Our Story
TradeUp Careers was founded in 2020 by Jessica McCarthey to bring a people-first approach to recruiting. Built in partnership with experienced industry professionals, TradeUp began in the skilled trades market and quickly grew into multiple sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture, education, biomedical, and professional services.
In 2021, John Evarts joined as Co-Founder & COO, helping scale the business through operational excellence and hands-on recruiting expertise.
Together, Jessica and John have helped more than 50 clients nationwide hire confidently through transparent, relationship-driven recruiting.

Jessica founded TradeUp Careers in 2020 with a mission to make hiring more personal, affordable, and effective for both employers and job seekers. She built TradeUp from the ground up — creating the systems, approach, and people-first culture that define the company today.
As CEO, Jessica leads business development, client partnerships, and recruiting strategy. Known for her professionalism, empathy, and hands-on leadership, she remains deeply involved in every stage of the process — from client relationships to successful placements. Her vision continues to guide TradeUp’s growth and reputation nationwide.
John joined TradeUp in 2021 and plays a key role in guiding operations, strategic growth, and client success. Working closely with Jessica, he helps streamline processes, strengthen partnerships, and maintain TradeUp’s commitment to quality service.
In addition to overseeing operations and finance, John stays directly involved in the recruiting function — collaborating with clients, supporting placements, and helping ensure every partnership runs smoothly. His steady leadership and forward-thinking approach complement Jessica’s client-driven vision, keeping TradeUp efficient, consistent, and people-focused.
